Description

“Master of Puppets” is Metallica’s third studio album. Originally released on March 3, 1986 (last year marked its 30th anniversary), it was recorded at Sweet Silence Studios and produced by Flemming Rasmussen. It was Metallica’s first album released by a major label. “Master of Puppets” was the last album recorded by bassist Cliff Burton, who died in a bus accident in Sweden during the album’s promotional tour. “Master of Puppets“ received critical acclaim and appeared on numerous ”best albums of the year“ lists. With its politically charged lyrics and aggressive music, it also won over critics outside the metal genre.
The album is undoubtedly one of the most influential and relevant heavy metal albums of its time. It was so successful that it sold over 6 million copies in the USA alone!
According to ROLLING STONE magazine – “If they were to receive a Diamond record, it should be for Master of Puppets.”
