Description
Exactly thirty years ago, the Purple Hearts played at the Bridgehouse to a handful of East London mods. That same Saturday, another completely unknown band, the Chords, were acclaimed at the Waterloo by a few mods from the south of the British capital. Neither they nor their exclusive audience were aware of being part of a movement: their individualism prevented them from doing so. The tedious 70s, the disco Quadrophenia of the Who and the success of the Jam in the London suburbs led them to interpret the nonconformist and disruptive spirit of the modernists of the 60s, adapting it to their reality and involuntarily projecting it into the future as a timeless and eternal youth cultural expression, valid for any era. Revival Mod 1974-88.
