October in Badalona smells of celluloid, of short films, of international talent. FILMETS Badalona Film Festival celebrates its 51st edition from October 17 to 26, and at Wham! Vintage Store we couldn't stay away.

This festival, which began in 1971 as an amateur film showcase, has become an international benchmark for short films, with screenings ranging from fiction and animation to the most poignant documentaries.

Every year, FILMETS brings together emerging and established filmmakers, turning our city into a global showcase of audiovisual creativity.

The history of the festival is also the history of Badalona: from its first editions in Super8 and 16 mm to its consolidation as a sponsor of the Goya Awards and a platform for new talent. This year, in addition to the official sessions, parallel activities are being held, such as the FILMETS LAB, a laboratory for young creators, and tributes to key figures in Catalan cinema like Marc Orts. The city buzzes with screenings, panel discussions, batucada bands, and a program that champions the power of cinema as a light in the darkness.

And like every year, the Badalona merchants' association throws the film-themed window display competition. En Wham! nos hemos apuntado con entusiasmo: no solo porque el premio incluye una campaña publicitaria que nos vendría de maravilla, sino porque el cine forma parte de nuestra esencia. Además de libros y discos, en nuestra tienda encontrarás DVD, Blu-ray, VHS and even the occasional LaserDisc movie, along with art books, films and soundtracks that are authentic collector's gems.

We're preparing a showcase that will be a true tribute to the seventh art. Because we believe that cinema isn't just for watching: it's for experiencing, collecting, and sharing. And this October, Badalona will be the best place in the world to do it.
