Manson's painting, "Infinite Darkness," used on the album cover, was created specifically to accompany the music. His paintings continue to be exhibited worldwide, including in galleries and museums in cities such as Miami, Vienna, and Moscow.
Regarding the album, Manson says, “When I listen to WE ARE CHAOS now, it feels like it was yesterday, or as if the world is somehow repeating itself, making the title track and the stories feel like I wrote them today. This album was recorded to completion without anyone hearing it. There’s definitely an A-side and a B-side in the traditional sense. But like an LP, it’s a flat circle, and it’s up to the listener to put the final piece of the puzzle into the songs.”.
“This concept album is a mirror for the listener, constructed by Shooter and me,” he continues. “There are many rooms, closets, safes, and drawers. But in the soul, or in your museum of memories, the worst things are always the mirrors. Fragments and ghostly memories haunted me when I wrote these lyrics.”.

WE ARE CHAOS is the follow-up to Marilyn Manson's 2017 album, Heaven Upside Down, which marked his seventh consecutive album in the Top 10 of the album charts. Marilyn Manson continues to infiltrate fashion, film, and music, leaving his mark on modern culture: Saint Laurent featured him in a campaign, Travis Scott personally invited him to perform at the sold-out Astroworld Festival, GQ named him one of the most fashionable men of 2019, and he appeared as an actor in series such as Sons of Anarchy, American Gods, and The New Pope.
WE ARE CHAOS is released on CD and LP. The CD version comes in two editions, one of which is a limited edition that includes two bonus acoustic tracks. The LP version is available in three editions: black, transparent red, or white vinyl – the colored versions are limited editions.
